Left ventricular twist abnormalities in patients with left ventricular non-compaction. A cardiovascular magnetic resonance study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Current morphologic left ventricular (LV) non-compaction (LVNC) criteria seem to be still insufficient. The prevalence of borderline degree of LV hypertrabeculation is far more frequent than initially expected. LV twist and strain values are proposed as potential new functional parameters supplementing the classic morphologic LVNC criteria. The aim of this study was to assess diagnostic utility of LV twist and strain analysis in detecting regional myocardial dysfunction in patients with LVNC.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملIncremental value of cardiac magnetic resonance in the characterization of patients referred for left ventricular non compaction evaluation
Introduction Left ventricular non compaction (LVNC) is a rare cardiomyopathy due to a disorder of myocardial morphogenesis as the result of interruption during embryogenesis of the normal myocardium compaction. However, limited information is available regarding the actual impact of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) findings in reaching a diagnosis of LVNC in a population of patients(pt) ...
متن کاملLeft Ventricular Non-Compaction
OBJECTIVES We aimed to test the diagnostic accuracy of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in distinguishing pathological left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) from lesser degrees of trabecular layering seen in healthy volunteers and, in those with cardiomyopathies and concentric left ventricular hypertrophy, potential differential diagnoses. We hypothesized that pathological trabe...
متن کاملElectrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy is not associated with increased in-hospital adverse events in patients experiencing first non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction: A single center study
Background: There is conflicting data about prognostic implication of electrocardiographic (ECG) left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in patients with first non- ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). We aimed to examine the association of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) on admission electrocardiogram with adverse outcomes in patients with NSTEMI. Methods: In the present study, ...
متن کاملCardiovascular magnetic resonance findings in a pediatric population with isolated left ventricular non-compaction
BACKGROUND Isolated left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) is an uncommon disorder characterized by the presence of increased trabeculations and deep intertrabecular recesses. In adults, it has been found that ejection fraction (EF) decreases significantly as non-compaction severity increases. In children however, there are a few data describing the relation between anatomical characteristics o...
